Community Groups

A Community Group is a gathering of 8 to 15 people meeting in homes throughout our community at various times during the week. It is in the context of authentic community that people come to better know God and experience his presence, deep friendships are fostered, and people are cared for and encouraged to intentionally and passionately follow God. Community Groups are encouraged to enjoy social activities and service projects in conjunction with other Community Groups.

A Community Group involves elements of learning about the Christian faith, prayer, and sharing life’s struggles and joys. Being honest with ourselves, we recognize that we are not as good as we think we are. We also know God loves us far more than we ever dared dream so we invite those seeking spiritual things and those who are skeptical to come and experience authentic community.

How do Community Groups fit into Spring Run Presbyterian Church?

They are a primary place where people care for each other. Community Groups have been described as the “nervous system” of a church. In them, the gospel is applied to daily life where we work, live, and play. In them, we find the first responders to care for physical and spiritual needs. In them, we proactively call people to follow Jesus with integrity and to use one’s gifts to serve the church and the world. Since these are vital to your spiritual health, we expect everyone at Spring Run Presbyterian Church to make the commitment to be involved in a Community Group.

Our Community Groups are led by skilled leaders meaning they have experience and ability in this ministry, and by supported leaders who receive ongoing training and report to the pastor. These groups are committed to developing new leaders and to multiplying. As a result, groups generally have no more than 15 members.
