Spreading the Gospel throughout the World
Spring Run Presbyterian Church desires to be a body of believers that both participates in missions and supports them with finances and prayer. A goal of this committee is to spur our congregation toward greater involvement in and awareness of their role in missions. We seek to provide support to ministries and missionaries that are consistent with SRPC’s overall vision, which includes church planting as a priority. In addition we seek to prioritize the “10/40 window”, to maximize exposure to unreached people groups. As a part of that we want to be open to efforts to reach cultural backgrounds not currently supported by SRPC.

International Partnerships
IP is a group of Ukrainian missionaries that are focused on reaching their countrymen for Christ and planting churches. They use English classes (taught by Americans on short-term missions trips) to attract university-educated people into Bible discussion. John Kirwan, Bruce McCloy and Dave Croft participated in one such project in the fall of 2009. www.IPUkraine.org and http://srpcukraine.blogspot.com/
Equipping Leaders International
Equipping Leaders International. ELI serves strategic Christian leaders and their spouses inside and outside the institutional church primarily in the majority world (Africa, etc.) to equip and empower them to reproduce a growing number of leaders of reformational movements in their nations that impact the whole of life, e.g. family, church, education, workplace, etc. The president is Don Mountan, father of Mark Mountan. www.equippingleadersinternational.org
Reformed University Fellowship
RUF is a student community at VCU. “We love to have fun together! We also seek to be changed by God through His Word, reach out to others on our campus, and serve those in need both on our campus and in our city. We are here for those who are committed to Christ, and for those who are just curious or looking for a community of friends. We meet every Tuesday evening @ 7:00pm at Barnes & Noble bookstore, right across the street from Extreme Pizza on Broad Street.” www.vcu.ruf.org.
Young Life
“Young Life thinks the world of kids. We believe that they deserve to know what life can hold for them. Young Life leaders are caring adults who come sharing that hope as well as fun and lasting friendships with kids. Young Life is also all about fun. From club and camp to Campaigners and other activities, teenagers will have blast laughing, trying new things and being with their friends.” Matt Bouknight is the Area Director for Young Life in Chesterfield. www.chesterfield.younglife.org
Loaves & Fishes
Loaves & Fishes is Spring Run Presbyterian Church’s monthly opportunity to serve the hungry in Richmond. We meet at 11am at the Conrad Center to prepare and serve a meal. “The Conrad Center provides a hot breakfast and dinner to those in need and is the only regular program of its kind in the Richmond area. Serving an average of 300 people five days a week, the Conrad Center will prepare and serve more than 85,000 meals in 2005 alone. Every plate comes with a full-course, nutritious meal and is served in a clean environment that fosters mutual respect, gratitude and appreciation for others. The program opens the front door to Freedom House giving many the hope and encouragement they need to change their lives. In fact, the program serves as the first step toward recovery for many homeless persons.” Conrad Center, 1400 Oliver Hill Way, Richmond, VA. www.freedomhouserichmond.org
City Church
Pastor Eric Bonkovsky. “We are a congregation of about 75 people (mostly post college 20-somethings) with a heart for bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the City of Richmond. As we continue to grow, we hope to become a congregation reflecting Richmond’s diversity with members representing the different generations, races, and socio-economic statuses in this community. Currently, City Church reaches out to the local community through Loaves & Fishes (a monthly public feeding at the Conrad Center), collecting items for those in need, and various other service endeavors. We meet every Sunday at 4pm for worship service at 822 W. Franklin Street.” http://www.citychurchrva.com/site/

Pocahantas Womens Prison Ministry
The women’s prison ministry at Central Virginia Correctional Unit #13 (formerly Pocahontas) was started in 2007 by Betty Hammond of SRPC and Beth Sheffield of Sycamore Presbyterian. It seeks to evangelize and disciple women, under the guidance of Prison Fellowship Ministry. Weekly Bible studies and special evangelistic events are conducted and we provide Bible study books for each inmate (averaging about 50 each semester). As a result, many have seen their faith renewed and encouraged, and several women have come to Christ and been baptized. While family members were not allowed to attend these baptisms (for security reasons), as regular volunteers we were privileged to be invited.
