We believe the Bible is the inspired and inerrant word of God. Being from God, it has authority over life, and it announces good news of God’s grace to the world.
We share a common faith with Christians throughout the ages which is expressed in the Apostles’ Creed (written in the 2nd Century AD).
We believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
We believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary (so that Jesus is
the God-man both human and divine);
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;
on the third day he rose from the dead (and was seen by more than 500 people);
he ascended into heaven where he sits at the right hand of God the Father
and will judge both the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit who
regenerates people to spiritual life,
indwells and empowers believers to follow Jesus,
and gifts them with abilities to be used for the benefit of the church and world.
We believe that Christ has founded the Church which is
holy (set apart to demonstrate grace and truth),
catholic (universal or global across nations, tribes, and languages),
apostolic (sent with the authority for its mission as were the apostles),
and a communion of saints (those who believe and are saved) which cares for the needs of each other and helps work for the good of the world.
We believe in the forgiveness of sins (by grace alone through faith in Christ alone),
the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.
Of the branches of the historic Christian Church, we are part of the Presbyterian Church in America which subscribes to the Westminster Confession of Faith (a document written in 17th century to unite Scotland and England around a common faith). In it you can find a much lengthier statement of our beliefs.
